- Skills for support workers
This training course is designed around a strong belief that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in their community. It has a strong focus on developing the knowledge and skills around contemporary values, attitudes and models of service that connect people with their community using a person-centred approach to support.
Employment opportunities exist for people in a very rewarding field of employment who are willing to develop these skills.
The course has been designed to provide support skills to people that have not necessarily worked in Disability or Mental Health services previously. If you are interested in supporting people with disabilities and/or people with Mental Illness to be a part of their community, this course is for you.
Participants are required to attend 7 days of training over a 3 week period.
This course is funded by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) & the Disability Services Commission (DSC) and does not attract any fees and charges to participants undertaking the program.
The program will be delivered at a number of delivery locations in the Perth metropolitan, Wheatbelt and Midwest regions until June 2010.
